The Codex Telleriano Remensis is a 16th century manuscript first found in the far corners of colonial Mexico. The manuscript is broken into three parts. The first illustrates the ceremonial calendar months of xiuhpohualli, which we better know as our own solar calendar, followed by the tonalpohualli, which is the sacred calendar of the Aztec people. The final element of the ancient manuscript holds the amazing history of the Aztec people from their renowned voyage in the 12th century during the Spanish occupation.

The Codex Telleriano Remensis is considered by some as the purest example of Aztec manuscript history that we posses in the 21st century. Our reproduction is equal in worth and contains 100 pages using high definition scans taken from the Bibliothèque nationale de France in Paris by our team. Each page has been hand crafted from vellum-quality paper to ensure it looks and feels just like the original. Bounded by specially picked leather and hand stitched together, we provide a mirror-like image of the original Codex Telleriano Remensis.

Reproduction Details:

The hardcover books are made with two pieces of real wood on the inside. The leather is a 4 oz cowhide from a small supplier is New York state. The Glue we use to attach the leather to the wood is made at our facility and is a period correct wheat glue. Along the spine we use a modern perfect binding with modern glue to make the binding last longer that the older style. We also add three layers of mull cloth to the outside of the perfect binding , drying in between each layer, the mull cloth is a traditional way to make the binding stiff and strong.
